 Phrasal verbs.

 A phrasal verb is a compound verb formed by the combination of a verb and an adverb or a preposition, or also by a verb followed by an adverb and a preposition.

For example

For example, we have look, but if we add for to the verb "for" (look for), we have search.


Look out / Be caerful

Get on / Put on, getting good/bad with someone, carry on

Look up / Focus on something

Looking forward / Excited for something 

Get in / Enter, log on

Check in / Register

Lock out / Locked, enclosed

Check out / Check, pay the bill

Turn out / Turn off (lights)
